The Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) was created by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) to serve the public interest by establishing accounting standards and providing guidance for financial and other performance information reported by the public sector. The Opportunity You will be a member of a small, but highly skilled, energetic and committed team of professionals. Working directly with senior government officials, legislative auditors, local government finance officials and practitioners, you will be developing accounting and financial reporting standards and other guidance for the public sector in Canada. This requires you to collaborate with every level of government and their organizations, lead volunteer project teams to create accounting and financial reporting standards and other guidance, as well as communicate with a network of educators, professional associations, international standard setters and members of the public. The Position Your leadership, both as a technical expert and skilled facilitator will bring together people and ideas, resulting in timely and high quality guidance for the benefit of the Public Sector Accounting Board’s stakeholders. You will need to: - establish and nurture senior level contacts within the public sector and with other international standard setters;
- work independently to identify issues, explore alternatives, propose solutions and prepare any necessary meeting materials; and
- clearly articulate the results of your work to the volunteer members of PSAB and its task forces.
The Candidate The preferred candidate will be an innovative professional accountant with at least six years post-qualifying experience preferably in the public sector, possessing the following attributes and skills: - A dynamic and strategic thinker with sound judgment and integrity.
- Interpersonal skills that reflect your ability to perform with tact and diplomacy when dealing in group situations.
- A flair for research and preparing creative solutions to complex problems and be an effective writer and presenter.
Success depends on your ability to integrate strong technical knowledge with effective strategic thinking and communication skills, and to facilitate consensus and understanding among key stakeholders. Fluency in English is required and French is desirable. Other Matters This position is based in Toronto. Some traveling is required.
