One of PSAB's goals is to promote goal congruence with other standard setters in establishing generally accepted accounting standards. To that end, PSAB provides in-depth technical support to Canada's members of the International Federation of Accountants' (IFAC) International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB).
Canada's representative on the IPSASB is Ron Salole, Vice-President, Standards of the CICA. Sheila Fraser, the Auditor General of Canada, is also a member of IPSASB representing the Professional Standards Committee on behalf of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). As a founding member, Canada is very supportive of the IPSASB’s work, and continues to provide advice in fulfilling its work program. PSAB staff is currently responsible for development of the “elements of financial statements” component of the IPSASB Conceptual Framework. As public sector-specific issues are identified by the IPSASB, they are noted for inclusion in PSAB’s work program. - International Public Sector Accounting Standards — Accrual Accounting
